Brow Lift:
Frown lines above our noses and in the middle of your forehead will give you an unwanted older appearance.  Under stress and as we age, we tend to make faces that encourage the creases, giving us the serious, unhappy look. A brow lift eliminates these lines and is one of the only procedures that allows a plastic surgeon to access the hard to reach muscles that cause furrow lines.

Everything from the environment to genetics can result in wrinkling or sagging of the skin across the forehead. This ultimately increases heaviness of the eyebrows. As a result, people (no matter what age) look older than their actual years. They may be perceived as tired, angry or sad, even though they do not actually feel these emotions. In an effort to correct this, many opt for a procedure known as a forehead lift or brow lift.

As with all Boise Elective Surgery, good health and realistic expectations are prerequisites. When Boise Plastic Surgeon tightens loose skin and removes the excess; forehead wrinkling and drooping brows are diminished. If needed, part of the muscle that causes vertical frown lines between the brows can be removed, which results in a smoother brow and a more youthful expression. To see what a forehead lift can do for your face; put your hands above your brows and outside the edges of your eyes. Gently raise the skin upwards. If you have a sagging brow or deep furrows between the eyes, then you may be a good candidate for a forehead lift. This procedure is usually done between age 38 and 65, although it may be necessary at an earlier age.

What to Expect After the Surgery

Most patients experience a certain amount of swelling and bruising within 6 to 9 days following surgery. In addition to the forehead, sometimes this includes the cheek and eye area. To reduce swelling, keep your head elevated and apply cool compresses to your forehead and eyes. Boise Plastic Surgery Clinic will also have you start on medications prior to surgery that will help reduce the amount of bruising and healing time. The sutures are usually removed within seven days. For most patients, the recovery time will not exceed two weeks, but patients may still be advised to avoid strenuous activities for longer periods. Any prolonged bruising can be camouflaged with standard make-up techniques. Many times, a harmonious rejuvenation can be achieved when a natural brow lift is combined with a Boise Blepharoplasty (eyelid tuck) or Boise Natural Facelift.
